Songs like "Make A Wish", "Chase Away the Blues" and "One World Family" are intended to gently bring out and inspire young people with a sense of love and caring. Others, like "Play All Day" and "New Shoes" and Tom Paxton's "Marvelous Toy" keep the recording light and fun. And the final track, "John of Dreams" (a song by Bill Caddick) is a lullaby truly for all ages, one of the most beautiful I've ever found. Like it's predecessor, "The Farmer's Market", this recording is appealing in its wide variety of musical styles and instrumentation. Spirited banjo, dreamy hammered dulcimer, a touch of Latin rhythms, Celtic riffs on concertina and bouzouki and a host of other instruments maintain its staying power for repeated listening. "Play All Day" is my idea of really ideal family music. It's a recording with depth and light-heartedness which I think will appeal in many different ways to anyone who is involved in family life.
